LYSET and the golgi
LYSET and the golgi

In this illustration we see a beauty shot of the Golgi as it transports newly synthesized lysosomal enzymes toward the lysosome. In the Golgi, LYSET (cyan) retains GlcNAc-1-phosphotransferase (purple) so that it can tag lysosomal enzymes with mannose-6-phosphate (glowing yellow spots), which routes them onward to the lysosome. Two studies identify and characterize LYSET and its role in ensuring the efficient transport and targeting of lysosomal enzymes.
On this extremely short-turnaround project, I needed to translate the work of two different papers into a striking image.
